Web Products – Linux and Macintosh Servers
SRB West stopped installing new Linux and Macintosh servers in June 2007 but has continued to support a small minority of existing installations. As published in our product roadmap in Spring of last year and again at the User’s Group, next generation products will leverage and integrate with Microsoft .Net technologies and will require a server running a Microsoft Windows operating system. Linux and Macintosh servers will not be supported. If your district currently runs SRB West web applications on a Linux or Macintosh server, you will be required to migrate your applications to a supported Windows server by September 2009. A list of supported Windows servers is provided below under the heading “Web Products – Windows Servers”.
This change does not affect end-user workstation support. SRB remains committed to supporting Macintosh and Windows web browsers for end-user access to our applications and anticipates no change in this policy. If you need to migrate your server to Windows and would like a quote for services, please contact Steve Calnek.
Web Products – Windows Servers
Effective October 1, 2009, SRB West will discontinue support for Windows 2000 servers (all versions) and earlier. The following server operating systems will be supported:
- Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition (32-Bit x86) (or higher)
- Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (32-Bit x86) (or higher)
We will be evaluating x64 and Itanium versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 and will provide notification if and when these newer, higher-performance versions are supported.
SRB West conducts periodic reviews of our supported operating systems and the above information is subject to change. We will do our best to always provide more than one year’s notice of any material changes.
